I love it all, love it, but of course I have to be critical lol.
That city looks SO empty. The art of it is really alive and bustling but in that trailer it looks sooo empty it's like a zombie apocalypse has happened xD
Hope the final game wont be like this!

Also, the girl walking looks HILARIOUS please tell me they are gonna fix that.

Other than that, awesome job Game Freak, this is what I've been waiting years for. This game is gonna sell by the bucketload, Nintendo won't be able to ignore pokemon's importance after this!

1) First proper songbird.
2) First bird with long tail feathers.
3) It's orange! - It's also a Robin which are famous and adorable.
4) It has long legs.
5) It's simple yet cute and full of character.
6) That art is so adorable and almost "badly drawn" which makes it really cute.
7) Flame Charge!

Finally, I hope it's evo is awesome! What I want is a Hoopoe!

It makes so much sense just look at it! We have Hoopoe in Tenerife and they look so awesome.

And finally it could become Fire/Flying but I don't really mind if it does or not.

MMO is progressing really well : D

I'm currently working on finishing all the starter sprites (45 pokemon = 90 front/backsprites, overworlds, icons, etc), and getting my friend to do the stats so we can open up the starter machines.

One cool feature we already have working is - all pokemon caught data is stored and displayed in the dex.
Every pokemon's dex entry says how many have been captured worldwide!
This is a neat little piece of data that we could use in multiple ways ie. to show which is the most popular starter, which was the latest caught pokemon, etc. By having different milestones reached it could also unlock things for the pokemon/player.

So I've been thinking lately what features do people really want to see? Aside from the obvious, player vs player battles, trading between players, player housing, etc.

If you've got some ideas on what you'd like to see, comment here. I'm not planning on doing anything with them just yet, we need to finish all the basic stuff first but I would like to hear everyone's thoughts for the future.

So as you'll hopefully have seen I have made polls for all the Atlas starters, so make sure to vote for your favourite if you haven't already;



Covering a range of nearly all 17 types (missing only ghost and normal) they are: Grass/Rock, Grass/Ground, Grass/Flying, Pure Grass, Grass/Bug, Fire/Dragon, Pure Fire, Fire/Steel, Fire/Dark, Fire/Poison, Water/Psychic, Water/Electric, Water/Fighting, Water/Ice and Pure Water.

Also 2 grass type mammals, 2 fire type mammals, 3 water type mammals, 3 reptiles, 1 bird, 1 machine, 1 fish, 1 insect and 1 marsupial! (Just to confirm, there is a middle evolution but I've left them out of these pictures to simplify things)

What do you all think, were you pleasantly surprised, dissapointed? Do you have a firm favourite?

My best suggestion is to simply remove the link from this journal and let it disappear from the internet. I also certainly do not encourage the mob mentality of harassing the user as well as flooding the moderator inbox (which has been happening a lot lately.) I thank you Kyle for trying to stop everyone, but giving people all the information they need and telling them NOT to form a mob and harass a user never works.

We, as moderators, are doing our jobs every day and removing posts that break any of our rules. One rule specifically states that people should give credit to artists by linking directly to their work. Therefore, action was taken long before this journal was posted.

Now, to clarify one more thing, This person was not claiming the art as his/her own (see here [link]). While the user did not ask for any permission, his/her intentions were not malicious.

I hope this clarifies a few things. is amazing and deserves a lot more appreciation! Their sketchy pokemon are so reminiscent of the early 1st/2nd gen pokemon - it's like seeing Sugimori's early sketches! They are so creative and original and I don't know why they don't have a million faves and comments. Go watch them now!

Does anyone have any water starters that eventually become water/ice?
I need one to fill my last water starter spot for my mmo!

My current starters are a polar bear, an eel, a dolphin, and a camel so it cant be any of those animals.

Corocoro should be coming out soon, what (if any) XY news are you expecting and wanting?
I'm hoping for at least 2 new pokemon (I know it's unlikely but I can dream!) and trainer art of the heroes. Trainer art is usually one of the first things revealed so Im wondering if it's cos the trainers will be customizable that they still haven't.

To people making me feel horrible for calling out on an art thief, thanks a lot. I feel really crap now.

I have just found out the person who was tracing art has a personal site, with traced art on it (no credit ANYWHERE to ANYONE).
To top it up, it has a "web store" section with pictures of his traced art and mugs for like $25.00 saying "coming soon".
Although he's not making money off it *currently* it proves how they think there's nothing wrong with tracing and copying art and making money from it, but hey, we shouldn't do anything to discourage them or teach them to draw for themselves.

Finally. The rock hard proof that no one can deny, if you think there's nothing wrong with this then you are deluded and I will not discuss this with you. If this makes me a horrible person then feel free to unwatch me and block me.



Fact is, eyeballing is just as bad as tracing. Eyeballing something is copying. You can't copy something, then change some bits of it and call it your own. That's plagiarism. You can't say you're using the original as a "reference". Using something as a reference means looking at a subject from multiple sources and angles to help you make your own poses more accurate, not to copy their poses line for line. I fully believe tracing helps you learn, but do it privately, don't go posting it online, or at least get permission first.

Sorry for going on about this again, but I'm dropping it now. I don't even care anymore, hell, let's let anyone steal art!
This is not a witch hunt journal, neither was the other one. My intention was not to send abuse to this person, but to try help them learn to be a better artist. They clearly have artistic ability! I don't believe they did this maliciously, I don't think I could have handled this in a nicer way, I have no regrets, heck I even apologized...

Ok there was someone copying art and not giving due credit. I made a journal about it before, warning them that if they did it again I would tell people, and they did it again.

Since then they have deactivated their account. Not what I wanted, I wanted them to stop posting copied art. If you want to copy art and change things around to learn THAT'S FINE, but don't go posting it online, and definitely don't claim it as your own.

I didn't make this journal to cause trouble but to get people to help me report their art. I'm sorry if this offended anyone, it was not my intention, I wasn't trying to be cruel which is why I warned them about it months ago. It's over now so let's move on.

How do you think they will handle seasonal pokemon in XY?
Deerling and such will need to be available somehow. How do you think they will do it?
They could do seasons, but I doubt they will cos they tend to drop the latest innovation they add. (following pokemon were dropped and then seasons added) Plus in 3D it's 4x the amount of work to make seasonal graphics.

Or they could do like they did espeon/umbreon in the games there was no day/night, and just base it on the clock.
So they would still have them show as their winter forms if it's during those winter months, even if it always looks like summer.

Or they could introduce something new, like they did with milotic (trade holding a new item, prism scale) and leafeon/glaceon (add an icy rock and mossy rock in every region).

Or maybe they don't care lol.

If they get rid of seasons, they should bring back different pokemon showing up at different times of the day. I was dissapointed by the lack of this in BW/BW2 but I could accept it cos we had seasonal differences instead (which weren't very different apart from a cubchoo and a vanillite here and there.)

Hey all,

Thanks for all the great feedback on my video! I listened to everyone and I agree that the battles need a bit of work. I will try to create new battle backgrounds and maybe make some battle sequences at the beginning of the battles. I'm not gonna do attack animations as I plain don't know how and it's not important to me, and I won't be doing pokemon animations as it would just take too long and I have no idea how to do them either.

What people really wanted was music, so I'm looking for a musician!
You must have some examples of your work. If chosen will get invited to play the game.

Also if anyone wants to do the attack animations or pokemon animations then go for it haha.
Please remember that I'm making all the content myself, all the tiles, level designs, pokemon sprites, overworlds, etc. This means I can't do everything and it takes me a while to get round to everything :C

This still bothers me to this day, like, it doesn't bother me that much but it feels off.
I feel like towns are so empty now with just a pokemon centre.
Also the pokemon centre was iconic orange/red and Poke marts were iconic blue. The interiors were so cute like a little japanese shop full of goods

Can you imagine if they remade any of the old games like ruby/sapphire or even red/blue and they got rid of the pokemarts? It would feel so weird...

So many things were dumbed down in BW for the worse, dont get me STARTED on the stupid region map. Yeah let's make the map a hexagon!! NO.

How do you know if someone has blocked you on dA?
I accused someone of stealing one of my friend's art and they denied it, and since then they've taken down the picture.
Now I'm unable to post on their page or on any of their deviations, does this mean they blocked me?

If so, I won't name names but dude, you just totally admitted you're guilty. I have looked through the rest of your gallery and nearly all your art is a trace of a pokemon episode or something. Anything you've drawn from your imagination is not very well drawn so yeah...

Please don't trace other people's art or copy their poses. You can do it at home to teach you to draw better but don't go posting it online and taking credit for it. If you continue to do so I will have no choice but to expose you. Hopefully you'll take this opportunity to learn from it and be a better artist.

Anyone else find it hilarious that basically the majority (87.5%) of Ninfia will be male?
That's unless they make it female only which would mean your male eevee evolving into a girl lol. (it's happened before with azurill but I doubt they'd do it).

Also I'm thinking flying type, as it weighs the least compared to the other eeveelutions.
I'll add it to the mmo tonight! If I can work out where those damn ribbons are coming from haha.

EDIT: Just realized nintendo totally hinted at this a while back and we said it wasn't proof lol. In eevee's short movie the title has a little pink bow among all the other eeveelution coloured symbols.

Also, I noticed Ninfia has a little 'tuft' of hair on it's head, same as eevee. No other eeveelution has this. This leads me to think that Ninfia is the true natural evolution to Eevee if it's not exposed to radiation or something. They are both cute pokemon that are popular with girls.

What does MMO mean?
Massive multiplayer online. A computer game in which a large number of players can simultaneously interact in a persistent world.

Can I play? When is it out?
It's not out yet and there's no set release date. We will release it when we feel satisfied it is in state that it can be released in. I'm hoping for later this year if I can get enough finished.

Can I be a beta tester?
Sorry but most probably no. We already have a couple hundred beta testers, more than we need!

What do you play it in?
It's played in your browser, there is no need to download anything.

Will it work on my Mac?
It works on any OS. All you need is Google Chrome, Safari or Opera.

What is it being developed in? How long has it been developed? I have more technical questions also.
It's been in development for over 6 years (before I joined) in HTML5. For more technical questions please ask . He's the genius who has created it all.

Why is it called an engine?
The actual game is being created in a custom engine. My region is just one of the many regions that they hope to feature in it. The engine lets people create and add maps, create events, everything necessary to make a pokemon game. It can even be played offline.

What do you mean by multiple regions?
In the intro you will be able to select which region to start in. Once you beat the Elite Four, you will be able to travel to another region. They are hoping to feature all official regions (Kanto, Johto, etc) and at the moment there are two custom regions, mine and a region called Bombur belonging to PokeFactory.

What is your region called?
Atlas - a giant region that encompasses all kinds of habitats and cultures from all over the world.

Will there be official pokemon like pikachu?
Not in my region. Obviously Kanto will have kanto pokemon and so on and so forth. All nintendo pokemon are fully programmed in already and fully working. So say you start in Kanto and beat the Elite Four then you could use your pikachu in my region.

How many pokemon will there be in Atlas?
So far, up to 200 pokemon. These will include some of your favourites from and !

Can I submit a pokemon I made?
You can! Just send me a link or whatever and I'll take a look. If I like it and think it matches the game well I might agree to add it in. Please don't be offended if I say no, I don't HAVE to do this so please be grateful for the opportunity. I want to keep the standards quite high and avoid any duplicates.

I saw in the screenshots pokemon following you, will this be in the game?
YES but this is entirely optional for those who hate it (why would you?). Not only will they follow you, you can speak to them to check their happiness level. Unlike HG/SS it doesn't have to be the first pokemon, you can select any pokemon in your team to follow.

Will there be any new types?
Not in my region Atlas, no. The other custom region Bombur has Light, Magic and Wind types.

Will there be any new moves / abilities?
There aren't at the moment but the engine fully supports it.

Is there a day/night system?
Yes and weekdays. In the future there will also be seasons and a weather system.
NPC's routines depend on the time of day. At night, windows and streetlights light up and all the npcs will be in their homes. Buildings will close when it gets too late, and you might disturb a family having dinner if you visit them at dinner time, etc. Pokemon encounters also differ with time, to a more extreme level than before.

Will I be able to dress my player up as I like?
At the moment you can create your own character and add it, and in the future we are planning a customization system where you will be able to change your hair, clothes, etc.

How can I help?
I'm not looking for help at the moment, sorry.

No I don't deserve it. But feel free to do so to as he's the guy who's developed it all. That and all the immensely creative and talented people who have given me permission to use their pokemon.

South of the main city in the mmo is a route lined with war memorials, broken forts, crumbled walls, a church and graves, and I need pokemon to match this environment!

Obviously it's a sensitive topic so I'd prefer no references to religion such as crosses, etc. Keep it vague people!

If you design something I like I'll put it in my mmo and you'll get invited to play (and have one in your team).
Designs don't have to be sprites! And they don't need amazing art, a sketch will suffice. It's the design that matters!

For all the people out there whose pokemon I'm gonna be using in my mmo, you will have a free beta pass to try the game out right now whilst it's being made.
If I've yet to give you an invitation and I'm using your pokemon let me know!

Anyway pokemon I still need;
These should all be pokemon that you can find early on! That doesn't mean they have to be weak, just that they're not really special ie. a rainbow serpent or something.

Cat pokemon - there's already so many cat pokemon it would have to look quite different.
City/urban pokemon - I've got a rat and a pigeon but I would ideally like some sort of city bug, ie cockroach.
Nocturnal pokemon - Pokemon that you would only be able to find at night. I have a bug already (mosquito) but something like a firefly would still work, owls, etc.
Cave pokemon - cave animals - I have plenty of non animal living rocks.
Grass types - I need a lot of these.
Water types - that live on land (like marill)
Ghost types - Some that you can find early on
Nurse type pokemon - like chansey/audino etc.
Horse - A horse would be useful, but not similar to ponyta. If it could just look normal not elemental kinda like how buneary looks like a normal brown rabbit (unlike nidorans, azumarill etc)
Non-animal pokemon - some general creative non-animal pokemon would be cool. I was just reading an article about the winter bug and norovirus and thought it would be interesting to make a pokemon based on this for example!
