Oh, Joystiq is this gaming news site a few of my friends read (I used to but I felt like I ended up talking about games more than I played them so I stopped). My friend posted this link on my Facebook: [link]
If you ctrl + f "kyle-dove" you'll see some guy called AlexMcCarthy who linked to your DA page (I didn't do that of course, I just read through the comments and happened to see it). And I just thought, wow, small world.
Regardless, the graphics are beautiful and unique. The programming is no doubt amazing too (so give my thanks to the programmers please), but you shouldn't feel bad for taking credit where credit is due with those wonderful graphics.
I don't have a tiles version of the city I mean; I was going to, had I been able to finish my game. Some city maps I like tend to need created lighting effects rather than the automatic ones you see in Pokemon games when the day goes to night and back for the full effect to be felt. But anyway, back to the types of maps, I have a couple:
Cities combining elements of nature like moss, plants and roots as well as regular city stuff: [link] Sky cities or underwater cities: [link] [link] Cities with canals: [link] Cities with multiple levels of ground and multiple paths and stairways: [link]
So I guess creative out of the ordinary cities. Plus some cities maybe you can only access during the day or during the night; that could make for some interesting designs as well. So what do you think?
Oh yeah those are definitely some epic cities. I'd love to do a city like that! But as it's the start of the game I couldn't do anything too special, had to do a generic city. Hopefully I can do more creative stuff like that later on, thanks for the inspiration!
